Maraton (42.195 Km)

                                                               GENERAL INFORMATION
Date and Time:
The Marathon starts at 09.00 am on Sunday, 17th November 2013.

Time Limit:
5 hours 30 minutes. The traffic opens at 14.30. After that time, the participants who are still on the course will be asked to continue running on the sidewalks.

Opening Hours of Chip Points:
The course will be opened to the traffic as below hours;

Start Point                  will be opened on 11.00 o'clock (2.00 hours) (Bosphorus Bridge).

5.km                           will be opened on 12.00 o'clock (3.00 hours).

8.km                           will be opened on 13.00 o'clock (4.00 hours) (Tophane).

10.km                         will be opened on 10.20 o'clock (1.20 hours).

15.km                         will be opened on 11.00 o'clock (2.00 hours).

20.km                         will be opened on 11.40 o'clock (2.40 hours).

25.km                         will be opened on 12.20 o'clock (3.20 hours).

30.km                         will be opened on 13.00 o'clock (4.00 hours).

35.km                         will be opened on 13.40 o'clock (4.40 hours).

40.km                         will be opened on 14.20 o'clock (5.20 hours).

42,195.km                  will be opened on 14.30 o'clock (5.30 hours).

Entry Requirements:
You must be 18 years of age or older on race day, 17th November 2013 to register for the Marathon.

Entry Deadline:
Registration is possible until 23.59 GMT on 30th September 2013. The entry closes as soon as the registration limit has been reached.

Entry Fee:
The entry fee for the Marathon;
- 55 TRY from 1 January to 31 July 2013, 
- 65 TRY from 1 August to 31 August 2013, 
- 105 TRY from 1 September to 30 September 2013.
(Exchange rate will be calculated as 1 $ for 1,5 TRY, 1 € for 2 TRY)

How to Enter:
It is only possible to subscribe online.

After you read the Marathon race information click the online registration button and fill the registration form carefully. Finally, pay the entry fee through the credit card payment page.
Please note that, you'll not receive any confirmation e-mail after you registered. You should check your registration from the Confirmation Page.

Where to Pick Up the Race Pack:
The entrants will receive their race packs at the Marathon Expo. The race pack includes the bib number, the timing chip and the marathon t-shirt.

Finishers´ Medals:
Marathon finishers will be presented a commemorative medal at the finish line.

Pasta Party:
There is no separate pasta party. Pasta will be served as well as some other traditional Turkish food at the Expo at all times from 14th to 16th November.

Starts and Finish Areas:
The start area distance is 300 meter to the Bosphorus Bridge's. The Race will be finished in front of the Sultanahmet Mosque in Sultanahmet Square.

Transportation to Start Area:
Free transportation to the start area will be provided for the participants on the race day from Taksim, the city centre, and from Sultanahmet. The buses will leave from 07.00 on, the last bus leaving at 07.30.

Personal Belongings:
Marathon luggage buses will be located 50 meters in front of the start area. The athletes should leave their bags in the respectiv buses. All luggage buses will be leave at 08.30. At the start areas the Organizing Committee shall not be liable of any belongings that are not left in the buses untill this time. The luggage buses will be ready at the finish area before runners arrival.

Personal belongings may be left in the buses that will take the participants to the start area. Bringing valuables is not recommended. Organization committee is not responsible for lost items. All participants will considered as they have read and confiremed the statement on the registration form.

 

Course Support:
Drinking/sponging and refreshment stations are provided every 2,5 km after 5th km.

Possible Weather Conditions:
12-13 degrees Celcius at the start 16-17 degrees Celcius at the finish.

Medical Support:
30 ambulances will be available throughout the course and a Tent Hospital will be located at the finish.

Health Advice:
Please, be examined before the race. People who has respiratory tract and heart disease should not participate into Marathon. Please participate into the marathon after you have enough rest. In the race morning have your breakfast early and avoid yourself from the acidic and alcoholic drinks. Please wear socks with your sneakers necessarily. Please leave the race if you have health problems during the race you can also ask for medical assistance from health officers.

International Arrivals:
The nearest airport to the main locations such as the Marathon Office, the Expo and the finish area is Istanbul Ataturk Airport (IATA Code: IST), 25km to the City center. The Sabiha Gokcen Airport (IATA Code: SAW) on the Asian part of the city is an alternative at a distance of 50km to the City center. There are shuttle services at both airports provided by the ground handling company HAVAS. It is also possible to book a pick-up service through privately owned www.istanbulairportshuttle.com. Metro operates between the Ataturk Airport and Aksaray, a district close to Sultanahmet. A taxi costs around 25 Euros to Sultanahmet or Taksim, the city center.

Limitations of Organization:
The athletes cannot attend to the Marathon with bicycle, motorcycle, roller skates or any other vehicles. Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality organizes different competitions and sports events with such vehicles. Participants must join to organizations with the appropriate sports clothing.
