Date and Time

The Marathon starts at 09:00am on Sunday, 17th October 2010.

Entry Deadline

Registration is possible until 23:59 GMT on 30th September 2010.

Entry Fee

The entry fee for the Marathon;

•     30 TL until 31 July 2010
•     45 TL from 1 August to 31 August 2010
•     60 TL from 1 September to 30 September 2010

( Exchange rate will be calculated as 1 $ for 1,5 TL, 1 € for 2 TL )

Entry Requirements: You must be 18 years of age or older on race day, 17th October 2010 to register for the Marathon. The lower age limit for the 15 km is 15.
 
Time Limit: 5 hours 30 minutes. The traffic opens at 14:30. After that time, the participants who are still on the course will be asked to continue running on the sidewalks. All finishers are eligible to receive commemorative medals.
 
Possible Weather Conditions: 12-13 degrees Celcius at the start 16-17 degrees Celcius at the finish.

Timing: All Marathon entrants will receive single-use timing chips with the event logo in their race packs. The price of the chip is included in the entry fee. The chip must be tied with the shoelace. There is no timing or ranking in the Fun Run.

How to Enter: Please follow the instructions on the Registration page. When you register online and pay the entry fee through the secure system, you will receive a confirmation automatically. 

International Arrivals: The nearest airport to the main locations such as the Marathon Office, the Expo and the finish area is Istanbul Ataturk Airport (IATA Code: IST), 25km to the City center. The Sabiha Gokcen Airport (IATA Code: SAW) on the Asian part of the city is an alternative at a distance of 50km to the City center. There are shuttle services at both airports provided by the ground handling company HAVAS. It is also possible to book a pick-up service through privately owned www.istanbulairportshuttle.com. Metro operates between the Ataturk Airport and Aksaray, a district close to Sultanahmet. A taxi costs around 15 Euros to Sultanahmet or Taksim, the city center.

Accommodation: Individuals or groups who will participate in the Istanbul Marathon are welcome to ask for assistance with their accommodation. A range of hotels is available at special rates for our participants and their accompanies. All requests must include the anticipated itinerary and the number of rooms required and must be sent to bilgi@ultraturizm.com.tr by fax to +90 312 466 04 55. Please also see our Contact page to check if there is a travel agent or a tour operator in your country who offers a package for the Istanbul Marathon.

Where to Pick Up the Race Pack: The entrants will receive their race packs at the Expo. The race pack includes the bib number, the timing chip and the marathon t-shirt. Any entrant who will not be able to arrive in Istanbul after the closing time of the Expo must contact the Marathon Office at info@istanbulmarathon.org.

Pasta Party: There is no separate pasta party. Pasta will be served as well as some other traditional Turkish food at the Expo at all times from 14h October to 16th October.

Transportation to Start Area: Free transportation to the start area will be provided for the participants on the race day from Taksim, the city centre, and from Sultanahmet. The buses will leave from 07:00 on, the last bus leaving at 07:30.

Finishers´ Medals: Marathon finishers will be presented a commemorative medal at the finish line.

Course Support: Drinking/sponging and refreshment stations are provided every 2,5 km.

Medical Support: 20 ambulances will be available throughout the course and a Tent Hospital will be located at the finish.
